Jahannam. The Fire. Sa'eer. Jaheem. Saqar. Ladha. Hutamah. Hawiyah. Seven names β and seven levels β of the place God has prepared for disbelievers and sinners. A place where its inhabitants neither die to find rest, nor live a life of comfort. God Almighty said about it: "O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are angels, stern and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded." This topic is not mere preaching. It is a detailed descriptive journey β based on the Holy Quran and authentic Hadith β into the world of Fire: How was it created? How many gates does it have? Who are its guardians? What is the food and drink of its inhabitants? How do the levels of its punishment differ? A terrifying journey... that every rational person must contemplate before it is too late.
Summary: Hell is the abode of eternal punishment prepared by God for disbelievers and polytheists. It was created before Adam (peace be upon him). It has seven gates. Its fuel: people and stones. Number of its guardians: 19 angels. Its most famous names: Jahannam, Ladha, Hutamah, Saqar, Jaheem, Sa'eer, Hawiyah. Food of its inhabitants: Zaqqum (a tree at the bottom of Hell) and Dhari' (dry thorns). Their drink: Hameem (boiling water) and Ghassaq (pus). Their clothing: tar and garments of fire. Punishment is eternal for disbelievers, temporary for sinful believers.
π How Was Hell Created?
The Fire exists now. It is not something that will be created on Judgment Day. In Sahih Muslim, the Prophet ο·Ί said: "The Fire complained to its Lord, saying: 'My Lord, parts of me have consumed one another.' So He permitted it two breaths: a breath in winter and a breath in summer. The most severe heat you experience is from the heat of Hell, and the most severe cold you experience is from the bitter cold of Hell (Zamhareer)." Scholars say: the Fire is beneath the seventh earth. Some say: it is in a place known only to God. What matters is that it exists. And the Prophet ο·Ί described it: "The Fire was kindled for a thousand years until it turned red, then kindled for a thousand years until it turned white, then kindled for a thousand years until it turned black, so it is black and dark." The Fire of Hell is not like the fire we know. The Prophet ο·Ί said: "Your fire, which you kindle in this world, is one part of seventy parts of the Fire of Hell." The Companions said: By God, that would have been sufficient! He said: "It is superior to it by sixty-nine parts, all of them like its heat."
"Your fire which you kindle is one part of seventy parts of the Fire of Hell."
πͺ The Gates and Levels of Hell
Hell has seven gates, as God Almighty said: "It has seven gates; for every gate is a designated portion of them." These gates correspond to seven levels β each level more severe in punishment than the one above. The highest level (Jahannam) is for sinful monotheists: they are punished according to their sins and then removed. The second level (Ladha) is for sinful Muslims. The third level (Hutamah) is for the arrogant. The fourth level (Saqar) is for polytheists. The fifth level (Jaheem) is for idol worshippers. The sixth level (Sa'eer) is for those who consume orphans' wealth and oppressors. The lowest level (Hawiyah) is for hypocrites β the most severe punishment! God said: "Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire."
The Magnitude of Hell's Guardians: "The distance between the shoulders of the disbeliever in Hell is a three-day journey for a fast rider." And "The molar tooth of the disbeliever in Hell is like Mount Uhud." The bodies of Hell's inhabitants are enlarged to increase their torment!
